Stonehaven Anchorage to Nara Inlet
David and Anne leave tomorrow by train from Proserpine, and we need to be in Airlie Beach by late tomorrow morning. All good things end. To make the final passage easier we've previously decided to make Nara Inlet our final stop. This is a favourite amongst bareboaters for both its convenient location and its stunning natural beauty. Unfortunately we won't get to see it at its best. It rained reasonably heavily last night and the skies are still quite overcast.
We do the trip down the west coast of Hook Island in strong wind-against-tide conditions. While not scary or even uncomfortable, it does make the short passage lumpy and VERY SLOW.

Leaving Stonehaven |
Anne took the following small video on her phone. I'm putting it here just as a reminder of what wind against tide can do to the Whitsunday Passage.
Once into Nara the wind dropped significantly and the waves disappeared. We found an anchorage at the very end of the inlet and went ashore for the very short walk up to a cave with aboriginal paintings. The heavy cloud cover otherwise kept us below deck for the rest of the day.

I don't have any idea what this is, but Anne photographed it on the walk and it looks attractive |

Looking back down towards the entrance to Nara Inlet - shame about the cloud and wind |

A greeting from one of the locals, no doubt looking for some food |
